Vegan Caribbean and Jamaican food delivered across the Bettws estate, so dinner turns up without anyone driving into Newport.

Vegan Caribbean, Delivered
Bettws sits high on the northern edge of Newport, a big estate of streets named after rivers, laid out on rising ground in the 1960s. It works like a small town of its own, with St David's church at its heart. People know their neighbours, kids walk up Bettws Lane to the high school, and the shops at the centre cover the basics. What it does not have is much choice for dinner out, so that usually means a drive or the 16A into town.
That is where we come in. We cook vegan Caribbean food in Newport and bring it up to Bettws ourselves. Order the evening before and it is made the next day in a small batch, then packed in eco kraft rather than plastic. No queue, no parking, no hunting round town on a wet Tuesday. If you need to tell us which door to knock or where to leave a tray if you are out, just say.
The food is Caribbean home cooking with nothing taken out except the animal products. Rasta Pasta is an easy place to start, creamy with peppers running through it. Macaroni No Cheese does the job it always did at a Sunday table. Saturday Soup is thick enough to be the whole meal, and it is worth having festival or a few dumplings alongside to mop the bowl. Everything is seasoned properly, the way it is at home, so nobody at the table asks where the meat went.
Why Rooted Soul
Every dish fully vegan, with no meat, no dairy and no compromise on flavour.
Family recipes and bold island flavour in every single bowl.
Cooked by hand in small batches, never mass-produced.
Delivered to your door in Bettws in eco-friendly kraft packaging.
Bettws is its own place. The estate sits at the top of the NP20 district, in the NP20 7 postcodes, rising towards the Torfaen boundary with Malpas on one side and Rogerstone on the other, and once you are up here the city centre feels further than the map says. That distance is part of why the place is close-knit. People look out for each other, and if two or three doors want to put an order in together, that suits us fine. A run of orders down one street is the best kind of delivery we do.
We are a family kitchen, black-owned, cooking the Jamaican food we grew up on. Our food hygiene rating is 5 out of 5 and The Voice Magazine has written about us, but the part that matters more is that the same hands cook your dinner every week. Ask for less heat, more heat, a bigger portion for a working week, and it gets done. That is easier from a small kitchen in Newport than from anywhere with a call centre.
What We Deliver
We deliver right across the Bettws estate, from the top of Monnow Way down to Bettws Lane and the river-named roads in between, plus the streets running over towards Malpas. Vegan meal prep in Bettws is the easy one to start with: five or six containers dropped off, stacked in the fridge, reheated after work or a late shift. We also cater for the things that happen in a community like this, from birthdays and christenings to funerals, club nights and a hall booked for the afternoon. Tell us numbers and a date and we will do the rest.
On The Menu

Spiced lentils with a hint of sweetness, served with coconut rice and peas.

Slow-simmered lentils in a rich coconut curry with dumplings, carrot and potato.

Creamy coconut jerk sauce, sweet peppers and herbs tossed through pasta.

Yes, plenty of Bettws customers order several mains and sides at once to set up their lunches and dinners for the week.
